The Maine Acadian Culture Preservation Commission, appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, is an interdisciplinary body composed of individuals with local, state, and national perspectives. The duties of the commission are to advise the Secretary of the Interior through his designee, the National Park Service North Atlantic regional director, regarding the interpretation program to be developed, and regarding the selection of sites for interpretation and preservation by means of cooperative agreements. The National Park Service is authorized to provide staff support and technical assistance to the advisory commission. The superintendent, Acadia National Park, is the designated federal officer for the advisory commission. (Commission members are listed in the Acknowledgments section.)
