Tradition
holds that a portion of this Van Buren, Maine, house was built around 1880
by the owner (Farrell) and was eventually transferred to his daughter, Emily
Farrell Michaud. The largest portion of the house dates from 1912 to 1917.
The Queen-Anne style, wood-frame house features a tower with bell-shaped
roof. The original tin covering of the tower roof has been replaced with
composite (tar-based) shingles. Presently known as the Farrell-Michaud House,
the property is operated as a bed-and-breakfast inn. |
